What is kiruna church?

Kiruna Church is a famous wooden church in Sweden, located in the town of Kiruna, in the northern part of the Swedish Lapland. The church was built in 1909 under the guidance of the famous Swedish architect Gustav Wickman. It is considered to be one of the largest wooden churches in Sweden and is known for its unique architecture, characterized by the combination of Gothic Revival and Art Nouveau styles.

The church features a distinctive bell tower, which houses two large bells, one of them weighing a massive 1,500 kg. It is said that the church tower was intentionally designed to be taller than the nearby mining buildings so that it could serve as a landmark visible from afar.

The church's interior is equally impressive, featuring a large nave that seats over 1,200 people, as well as beautiful stained glass windows depicting biblical scenes. The altar is constructed of marble and features a stunning crucifix, while the walls are adorned with vibrant murals painted by the famous Swedish artist, Einar Jolin.
